Event Details

The outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic posed a tremendous challenge to European economies, which are facing a downturn of sizes that are still difficult to measure. While the world’s leading scientists are looking for a vaccine to the virus that has swept across the globe, European leaders rebuild the continent’s economy, while keeping in mind the commitment made prior to the outbreak of the epidemic to become fully climate-neutral by 2050.

Efforts to fight the current health crisis should be coordinated to support a low-carbon and sustainable recovery and to come in compliance with principles of the Green Deal. The urgent need to green our economies calls for avoiding to fall into the trap of short-term solutions which are detrimental to our long-term goals.

This session will ask the important questions of which areas should the recovery plan put its major focus on and what priorities should it take into consideration when determining its stimulus package.
