The exponential transformation of the world (population, environment, technologies) pushes innovators to challenge the status quo of nutrition and health, re-designing the current food value chain and the existing health care system.

Increasing number of research studies shows the direct link between the personalized nutrition and human health, physical and mental, shifting the paradigm from “nourish and curing “towards “preventing, protecting and performing”.

In this sense the innovation across sectors such as human medicine (cellular medicine, microbiome…), agriculture & food manufacturing (vertical farming, food printing…)  digital technology (AI, human cyborg…) enable the creation of an ecosystem of data collection, interpretation, transformation where nutrition and health solutions are personalized / connected / integrated.

But this new integrated approach in people’s life should trigger some questions and discussions between R&D, businesses and authorities about:

  • the importance of nutrition and health innovative solutions, based on the principles of empathy and privacy
  • linking and deploying in the society nutritional options and human activities that strive towards improving health and wellness
  • developing and integrating digital technology into day-to-day life, enabling the constant monitoring of each individual health status and enabling a more integrated and proactive health system
  • defining the collaborative research areas (sustainable protein, healthy fats.) and the sustainable manufacturing conditions (no additives, sustainable packaging….) to deliver the new nutritious healthy solutions
  • defining the minimum personal nutritional requirement for each individual and ensuring its supply across countries.

This vision can be reached when private and public sectors, start-ups and corporate share this common vision and cooperate to create the future of digital nutrition and health.

Talking points:

  • J&J largest healthcare company focused on improving lives of people
  • We strive towards a World Without Disease with strong emphasis on prevention, early diagnosis/interception and cure
  • People take much more ownership for their health, which is enabled by availability of data, digital solutions, machine learning
  • Digital Health will be fully integrated into the current healthcare systems in the world
  • Having a better understanding about nutrition and the effects on your health, people can be guided into a healthy direction (will share some examples of probiotics and the use of data)
  • J&J Consumer works closely with start-ups and academics to co-create new game-changing innovations. Some examples will be shared in the presentation
